Why Participate in a Tutored Break ? If you would like to learn to see and appreciate more fully the wonders of nature all around you, to use your creative ability to select, simplify and represent the landscape in a drawing or painting with feeling, then a painting break should be a refreshing and enjoyable experience for you. Have you ever wondered when you see a work of art which pleases you, how the artist approached the task of completing such a challenge ? By participating in a painting break you will be able to observe a practising professional artist and teacher, with twenty five years of teaching experience, who regularly holds exhibitions of his work, take you through the steps involved in simple and easily digested stages. Learning to paint is fun; It`s easier than you think. There`s a painter in all of us just waiting to get out. Once you begin painting you appreciate more fully the creations of man and the wonders of nature and see things in a completely different way. You will save yourself many years of frustation learning how to paint that sky, mountain, lake or other element in the landscape and be taught techniques that only experience and hard work can teach you. The Programme - Teaching Guaranteed Considerable thought and planning has gone into ensuring that your painting break is both an informative and enjoyable experience. I have selected locations carefully to provide a wide range of painting opportunities whatever your level of expertise. All courses are based in first class accommodation, situated in inspirational surroundings, selected for their hospitality and excellent food. After the initial welcome, the first of many demonstrations, carefully selected to illustrate a variety of painting techniques will be given. Throughout the course, developed and refined over many years of teaching, the painting of skies, mountains, trees, water, buildings, foreground, together with the principles of design will be demonstrated. It is my normal policy to distribute my demonstration 'doodles', amongst the course member and you will soon be shown helpful tips when painting each element in the landscapes. I will show you many techniques that I have developed over thirty years of painting, enabling your development as an artist to progress rapidly. Tuition takes place in an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere with emphasis on developing YOUR OWN skills and YOUR OWN individual painting style. You will be shown how to paint loose and impressionistic as well as painting in a more detailed representational style. Whenever feasible we will be working outdoors and drawing our inspiration from nature. If adverse weather conditions occur facilities are provided to work indoors. If you are a complete beginner, I will have art materials available for purchase at discounted prices but only in the UK. I look forward to working with you. It is not as difficult as you might think ! If you think you can`t paint - you`re wrong. I have proved time and time again that 'anyone can paint'. I don`t believe it`s a gift, it`s more a case of perspiration than inspiration - it`s a case of practice makes perfect. I can show you 'How to do it' - what I can`t do is practice for you but I can show you where you are going astray. I will take you through each stage, 'step by step' demonstrating the techniques I have developed over many years of painting. If you are a complete beginner you`re unlikely to be alone and I will be pleased to spend extra time with you to help and encourage you to enjoy and benefit from your painting break. If you are a more experienced painter we can concentrate on aspects of the landscape that you need to develop further. My teaching is tailored to your needs. I feel it is important when selecting a tutor to consider their painting style. If it`s not the type of painting you wish to achieve, look elsewhere. That`s the reason for showing so many examples of my work on this Website. My aim isn`t to impose a particular style of painting upon you but to demonstrate different ways to paint, enabling you to create your own style that will develop naturally with experience. |
