Why use Acrylics?
If I were restricted to using one type of paint for the rest of my life, I would have no hesitation in choosing artists quality acrylic paint.
Acrylic paints are the most versatile of all paints. They enable me to produce beautiful soft watercolour paintings on watercolour paper or to use traditional oil painting techniques on canvas. Using the same tube of paint, I can choose either approach.
They are the ideal starter paint for beginners and improvers and some of the most respected professional artists in the world use acrylics. I have been using acrylic paints for over 30 years and love them. There's a lot of nonsense spoken about acrylic paints, that's why I have produced this 'teaching package' to overcome the 'myths and bad practices' associated with acrylic paint.
About the book
I don't write text books. I write the way I teach, in a simple no nonsense manner, describing my methods in an easily digested way. The book is very comprehensive, describing the advantages of acrylics and the pitfalls to avoid, whether working on watercolour paper or on canvas.
If you are presently using traditional watercolours or oil painting on canvas this book shows you how to paint both ways. There are so many advantages in using acrylic paints over traditional watercolour or oils and whatever you may have heard, I can assure you they are wonderful and easy to use.
I explain the advantages discovered over 30 years of using acrylics, the materials required, colour mixing, glazing techniques (being oneof the major advantages of acrylics over other mediums,) how to add life to the painting (keyholes for horses, horseshoes for sheep, wine bottles for geese, lemons for figures to mention only a few.) My job is to make it easy for you.
I will guide you through eight step-by-step projects with examples on both watercolour paper and canvas, each beginning with simple exercises you can complete on a Saturday to prepare you for the Sunday painting - resulting in a complete acrylic landscape painting in just a weekend. You can do it by following my simple step-by-step instructions if you really want to.

About the DVD
The DVD features a number of quick and easy exercises that help you to add life to your paintings including how to paint a horse, sheep, figures swans and geese. There are two complete painting projects 'Mountains and Lake' Here you are shown how to paint a range of snow capped mountains, autumn foliage, water, rocks, shoreline and an incoming boat. The use of masking fluid and the use of the 'Wonder Knife' is demonstrated. This painting shows the versatility of acrylics using them as a watercolourist.
This is followed by 'Trees and Foreground' a woodland landscape, demonstrating the use of my 'Large Stippler,' 'Whopper Brush' and 'Unique' tree foliage and foreground brushes whilst painting with acrylics These special brushes demonstrate how easy it can be to paint a natural looking woodland scene.on canvas.
